The Carritec Difference:  Rapidly Renewable Energy & Heavy Metal Free

1. Renewable Energy: Carritec is located in Montreal, Quebec and powers the production facility with fabrication of aluminum ceilings, exterior soffits, light coves, column covers and wall systems made primarily from aluminum created with hydroelectric energy.

2. Heavy Metal Free: Aluminum does not require the use of the heavy metal pretreatment (hexavalent chromium) as used in galvanized steel.

The U. S. Green Building Council, LEED® - NC Green Building Rating System for New Construction & Major Renovation Version 3

1.    Energy and Atmosphere (LEED® EA Credit 1 – Optimize Energy Performance): Ceiling, Column Covers, Light Coves and Wall Systems with high light reflectance (LR) can reduce the number of light fixtures needed curbing energy consumption.

2.    Material and Resources (LEED® MR Credit 1.2 – Building Reuse – Maintain Interior): Prefinished aluminum panels are abuse and moisture resistant.

3.    Material and Resources (LEED® MR Credit 2 – Construction Waste Management): Our systems are pre-engineered systems to reduce installation waste and are 100% locally recyclable.

4.   Material and Resources (LEED® MR Credit 3 – Resource Reuse): Our systems include recycled aluminum.

5.    Material and Resources (LEED® MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content): Most of our systems are made from aluminum that contains 60% recycled material. The mix of the recycled content is approximately 0% post consumer and 100% post industrial.

6.    Material and Resources (LEED® MR Credit 5 – Regional Materials): Our products are manufactured in Montreal, Quebec and contribute to 5.1 earned credits for projects within a 500 mile radius. Our raw material (aluminum) is manufactured in Kingston, Ontario and contributes to 5.2 earned credits for projects within a 500 mile radius.

7.    Material and Resources (LEED® MR Credit 6 – Rapidly Renewable Material): 100% aluminum systems are rapidly renewable material manufactured with rapidly renewable hydroelectric energy.

8.    Indoor Environmental Quality (LEED® EQ Credit 3.1 and 3.2 – Construction IAQ Management Plan – During Construction and Before Occupancy): Most of our products do not require field fabrication. This assists in preventing indoor air quality events resulting from the construction process and sustains the comfort and wellbeing of the construction workers and building occupants. Our Ceiling, Exterior Soffits, Column Covers, Light Coves and Wall Systems have no reportable VOCs in the finished product.

9.    Indoor Environmental Quality (LEED® EQ Credit 4.1 and 4.2 – Low-Emitting Materials: Paints & Coatings): Most of our products are factory finished and do not require field painting. Our Ceiling, Exterior Soffits, Column Covers, Light Coves and Wall Systems have no reportable VOCs in the finished product.
10.    Indoor Environmental Quality (LEED® EQ Credite 8.1 and 8.2 – Daylight and Views): Ceiling, Column Covers, Light Coves and Wall Systems with high light reflectance (LR) can improve the quality and quantity of natural light by improving indirect lighting.
